Here is the answer from Promethean:
Do not use abrasive powders, soap, detergents or petroleum based cleaners
or solvents on the Activboard surface.
Scratches cannot be repaired or removed and will make ink and stain
removal in that area difficult. Do not use metal brushes, scrapers or abrasive
cleaning cloths.
The surface of the Activboard is made to very high standards of durability. In normal use you can expect satisfactory results every time with proper
maintenance.
Due to the high quality of projection surface it is not recommended that dry wipe markers are used on a regular basis. If, however, the surface needs cleaning after the use of such markers, we recommend the following methods:
• For normal dry wipe markers use Sandford Expo Towelettes 81850.
Do not use a board rubber.
• For permanent markers use Sandford spray cleaner 81803.
You should be able to obtain these products from an office supplies company.
A polish with standard household spray polish will restore the smooth writing
surface after cleaning.

Lots of laptops have power saving facilities and are often set to close down after a period without use. These setting can be changed by accessing the control panel of your computer and clicking the power options icon. Set all parameters to NEVER.

You can choose to have either the monitor or the board showing an image or both. By holding down the key marked Fn on your keyboard and tapping the relevant key, you can toggle between screens to suit your needs. Monitor keys are usually either F5 or F8. If you are unsure, look for a monitor icon or the words CRT/LCD

Check your connection. Make sure the board is switched on.
Serial: Right click the AV icon and click CONFIGURE. Set the ACTIV device port to search, make sure the startup option is set to AUTOMATIC and click start. This should activate the board.
Or if you have ActivManager click on the ActivManager icon, Control Panel and Connections tab, make sure Automatic Start is selected and click Find.
KEYSPAN: Follow the instructions for Serial but set the port search to COM 4. If that fails then try all com ports systematically through automatic and manual search.
USB: Right click MY COMPUTER. Click Properties. Click the hardware tab then device manager. The HID device should have an exclamation mark through it. Right click then click update driver follow the wizard and tell it that you will install the drivers yourself. It will track to the window containing USB Activ board driver. Click on this and it will update the drivers.

Each application disc contains these items. Insert the disc then from MY COMPUTER, right click the Promethean icon and choose explore. The file called DOCS contains manuals and user guides that will help to guide you through the many functions of ACTIV software. There are also help files that can be accessed from the menus on the toolbar, many by simply right clicking the icons.
